Description

The #1 New York Times Bestseller (October 2017) from the author of The Da Vinci Code.

Robert Langdon, Harvard professor of symbology, arrives at the ultramodern Guggenheim Museum Bilbao to attend the unveiling of a discovery that “will change the face of science forever.” The evening’s host is Edmond Kirsch, a forty-year-old billionaire and futurist, and one of Langdon’s first students.

But the meticulously orchestrated evening suddenly erupts into chaos, and Kirsch’s precious discovery teeters on the brink of being lost forever. Facing an imminent threat, Langdon is forced to flee. With him is Ambra Vidal, the elegant museum director who worked with Kirsch. They travel to Barcelona on a perilous quest to locate a cryptic password that will unlock Kirsch’s secret.

Navigating the dark corridors of hidden history and extreme religion, Langdon and Vidal must evade an enemy whose all-knowing power seems to emanate from Spain’s Royal Palace. They uncover clues that ultimately bring them face-to-face with Kirsch’s shocking discovery…and the breathtaking truth that has long eluded us.

From the start, I could not put it down. Riveting and suspenseful. The author described all the key places in such graphic detail, he created a perfect picture in my minds eye. I believe I shall read it once again. Mary Cato-Ewald

Thought-provoking. A bit too long for the essence. Character development is just okay. Plot has one or two “rational leaps”. Overall I enjoyed it and had no trouble reading it all.
  • A Gripping Story until the Reveal

The buildup was intense and gripping but the climax was rather disappointing not unlike a clickbait article. Interestingly, it was very obvious that it was someone of the older generation writing this novel by how he approached technology. Overall, not bad.

Dan Brown has a tendency to have amazing ideas, but formulaic writing. This book though was incredibly interesting and different. I really enjoyed it!

This is not masterpiece in literature, but Brown’s stories are always intriguing, appealing, and fun to read. I enjoyed the recollections of some of my favorite places in Spain (Bilbao and Barcelona). I just finished this one and I am already looking forward to reading Professor Langdon’s next adventure...
